Independence day is a very special day for Indian democracy and every Indian. Independence Day is celebrated every year on 15th August, as a national holiday in India commemorating the independence of the country from the British rule on 15 August 1947. Today, India is the largest democracy in the world. Every year Independence Day is celebrated across India with flag hoisting ceremonies, parades and cultural events. The independence we got on 15th August, 1947 was not easily attained. For this, we had to sacrifice a lot and had to struggle a long time. The division was accompanied by violent riots and mass casualties and displacement of about 15 million people due to religious violence. Revolution of 1857: The revolution of 1857 has great importance in the Indian independence struggle. Many historians believe that this revolution was the first battle for independence from the British in India. This fight was completely against the British East India Company. It is believed that this revolution started with the rebellion of Mangal Pandey. Mangal Pandey was a soldier in the British Regiment. The cartridge used here used to contain the fat of cow meat. For this reason Mangal Pandey refused to use this cartridge and started a rebellion against the British army to save the cow.
