If something has changed this year then it is only the way of celebration. We all know that the whole world is fighting with the threat of Coronavirus right now. Unfortunately India too could not remain untouched by this virus. Friends, independence is the result of the severe austerity of brave soldiers and their martyrdom, that we are free today. Friends, this penance, this martyrdom should not go in vain. Today, once again, an enemy has entered in our country in the form of Coronavirus. This time it is up to all of us to throw this enemy out of India.
It is said that the real test of a human being is not in its comfortable conditions, but only in challenging times. Covid-19 is one such opportunity in the form of a global challenge that will emerge our de facto leadership at all levels. This is the time when all levels and types of leadership, from organizational to individual, will go through the test of their potential in adverse conditions. The entire government machinery from the Prime Minister to the Chief Minister and the District Magistrate stand together in this collective fight against the current crisis.
Today, even though the economic condition of our country is not very good, today the government of our country will have a big challenge to generate employment but where the superpowers of the world have come to their knees, at such a time India, under the efficient leadership of our Prime Minister stand firmly with the solidarity and support of 130 crore Indians standing behind him. It is a classic example of world-class leadership, where a nation with such a diverse and existing federal structure has set its foot forward with solidarity and has shown the world how we stand united when it comes to taking India forward.
I recall the image of our Prime Minister with the biggest political mandate, who appealed to 130 crore people on national television and pleaded with his citizens to join hands and proactively take measures to tackle this global epidemic. It represents a strength of national character, a sense of concern for its people and a belief in the capabilities of the nation.
Indeed, it is a visionary vision to anticipate the horrific attack of this epidemic and implement proactive measures such as announcing public curfew, mandatory time-bound lockdown and capacity building for the upcoming challenges. India has always believed in the principle of global family i.e. "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" and following the ethos of Indian society, proposed an emergency fund for Covid-19 and set an example of mutual co-existence and brotherhood in the country.
It is an unique example of global leadership capabilities that are acceptable across World. As an Honourable Prime Minister of the world's largest democracy, Shri Narendra Modi is helping the country tirelessly in this hour of crisis. Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro thanked the Prime Minister of India for helping his country in this difficult time and compared this to the incident in the Ramayana in which Lord Hanuman saved Laxman's life by bringing him alive as a life saver. This initiative by the Prime Minister has proved India's important role in the changing global scenario and global leadership. But, it is not the end, the enemy is still around us and it is not the responsibility of any individual or a community of India, but together we all Indians have to fight and then only we will be able to win over this enemy.
We are very fortunate that our ancestors have given us a land of peace and happiness where we can sleep all night without fear and have fun all day. Our country is rapidly developing in technology, education, sports, finance, and many other fields that were not possible without independence. India is one of the countries rich in nuclear energy. We are moving forward by actively participating in sports like Olympics, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games. We have complete independence to elect our government and we belong to the world's largest democracy. Yes, we are free and have complete freedom, although we should not consider ourselves free from responsibilities towards our country. As responsible citizens of the country, we should always be ready for any emergency. We will celebrate this Independence Day but with precautions because this year our victory over this enemy will be our true tribute to the brave soldiers of India.

We cannot sit here and imagine how difficult independence was from British rule. This battle of independence took decades and sacrificed the lives of countless freedom fighters. The first voice against the Britishers for India's independence was raised by Mangal Pandey, a soldier working in the British Army.
Later many great freedom fighters fought and gave their whole life for freedom. We all can never forget Bhagat Singh, Khudiram Bose and Chandrashekhar Azad, who lost their lives fighting at a very young age. How can we bypass the struggles of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Mahatma Gandhi. Mahatma Gandhi was a great personality who taught non-violence to Indians. He was the only leader who showed the path to freedom through non-violence. And finally after a long struggle, on 15 August 1947, the day came when India got independence.
We are blessed that our ancestors have given us a country where there is harmony and where we can rest the entire night without fear and have a lot of fun throughout the day. Inspite of the fact that we are liberate and have complete freedom, we should not consider ourselves liberated from duties towards our nation. As responsible citizens of the nation, we should always be ready for any crisis.
At the end, I want to conclude my speech saying that our ancestors sacrificed a lot to achieve this freedom and being an Indian it is our responsibility now to protect our country's independence.
